This Is War April 5, 2011

Filed under: Poetry — poetrybee @ 9:09 pm

Where there is thunder there’s lightning

Where there’s war there’s fighting

I can’t help but say it’s a little bit exciting

They’re igniting

Wow, good timing

Truth is, there’s no trust without lying

Break a bone

Break the law

Humpty dumpty broke his fall

Like a nail

Screw them all

Hello, why did you call?

Can you release all the pain and the tension?

Why did you flinch when I mentioned your name?

It’s not the fortune, it’s the fame

That lion that you can’t tame

The picture without a frame

A lost item without a claim

Flip it over, is there a name?

No, they’re unknown

Raw-cut, straight up

Bad to the bone

He’s a soldier

He stands up for what he believes

He’s never down

Unless he’s praying on his knees

This is a battle

This is a war

We can’t give you less till you beg for more

If you weren’t color blind you’d know I’m feeling blue

Sherlock Holmes didn’t even have the slightest clue

Like a rotten apple

Bad to the core

You already know what this is

This is war

I’ll Never Stop

Filed under: Uncategorized — poetrybee @ 8:55 pm

I’ll stop writing poetry the day water drowns

I will stop writing the day I see a clown

Pick up the world by strings and flip it up side down

I’ve been to Atlantis, yes it has been found

And yes, I and the sheriffs are the new ones in town

To me, rap is poetry on a treadmill

I’ll stop writing the day I see a pigs fly

Then the world comes to a standstill

Yeah, you may want to pop some Advil

And before you flip the bill

I want to warn you that you ordered too much to eat

So please take a seat, and try to digest

And I promise I will eat the rest

You better start to catch up some ideas, in a new nest

And yes, as a poet

I feel so powerful and heroic

But if you park your cars in my vocabulary spot I will tow it

It’s not a game, it’s not for fun

Its cause I can’t help it, it weighs a ton

And it loves to get a piggy back ride

So everyday I find myself tugging it around

Nothing old lost, nothing new found

So the day I just can’t do this

I’ll grab my pen and paper and stash it in the ground

I’ll fold up the papers and put down the pen

The day the Devil looks up to God and repents for all his sins

Deadly Traveler

Filed under: Poetry — poetrybee @ 8:50 pm

You’re lost, you want to take a different path?

If you do, it’s gonna cost

And before you leave the office, I ma have to phone your boss

Oh, and by the way all of the maps have been tossed

So how will you get home?

You better hitch hike a piggy back ride

Like surfing in the ocean, you riding high tide

Why do you think birds fly?

Yes, they too, wonder what lays the other side

So before you go all Christopher Columbus

You need to learn where the road is

Because this is a strange town

No one like you around

How funny does that sound?

Like a bullet to the head, chest to the ground

Yes, he’s the best around

As we burry your body in the forest, where you’ll never be found

Why yes, you are the best

Getting caught just like the rest

What a crap, a mess

On your knees, in the mud, in a wedding dress

Your ticket, my arrest

Who’s the deadly traveler?

Can you take a guess?

Flock Away

Filed under: Uncategorized — poetrybee @ 8:48 pm

I act like a criminal

All my accidents are intentional

My words are way too influential

I’m too visual

But you already know

I think too much

Too cold to touch

You feel a rush

From the slightest brush

Of my shoulder

You feel the wrath of discomposure

The noise of a lawn mover

A breeze of a reef blower

Come here, come closer

There’s no need to be shy

Why do you think that birds fly?

To get away from their misery

To get out a cell of a penitentiary

Down in Tennessee

That means a lot to me

Please? Can you stay?

Remember all the words I’ve said today

Like birds they flock away

Fit For a King

Filed under: Poetry — poetrybee @ 8:46 pm

A man who stood up for what he believed in

He stood above all things

He wore a crown of courage

A crown fit for a king

Although he didn’t sing

He did use his voice

To inspire and rejoice

No matter the color of your skin, no matter what you look like

If you want respect you have to take a stand and fight

With all your might, don’t give up

We won’t stop till they get enough

Lock us up, throw away the keys

We’ll be right back knocking on your door Christmas Eve

We’re not giving up; we will get what we deserve

Telling us we’re not good enough, well I think you have some nerve

Look Sir, how can you judge someone when you don’t know them?

If they think we will just sit here getting stepped on, well I’ll show them

We will blow them, out the water

Mothers and fathers will walk miles with picket signs

Yes, I know we have crossed the line

But in time, the signs will not say “Colors Only”

Blacks will not sit in the back of the bus by their lonely

And no, I am not the only one who feels this way

And as I say this, all you can do it sit there and stare

As you hold your breathe, like there is no kind of air

As we stand up for freedom, don’t you see ‘em?

Marching in the hot weather

Asking for what we want, just for us to be together

At first it felt like a feather, but now it’s like a boulder

Carrying this weight on my shoulders

We say our speech, and you just sit their and grind your teeth

While we’re back on our feet, standing up for what we believe

Yes, we can achieve our goals and our dreams

Now we dance to the rhythm of freedom

If we can’t join them, we beat them

Now sink your teeth in the new and improved world

Black boys and white girls, all on the same bus

No fighting, no screaming not giving a fuss

Martin Luther King fought for all of these things

At first he was just a man who believed, then he grew angel wings

His job was done, now we’re all together as one

Around the bush we went, only time, not money spent

We got just what we asked for

Not less, nor more

Now we can stand up

Rejoice and sing

Because the world is much different now

Different for you and me

So bow down to the man with the crown

Martin Luther King

My Thoughts

Filed under: Poetry — poetrybee @ 8:42 pm

I like to write about whatever that’s on my mind

Life’s not a videotape, you can’t just fast forward and rewind

It takes time, it’s fine

Just try not to think about it

How can I sleep at night? My mind is throwing a fit

So please sit, and let me introduce you to my mind

I promise something is on it all the time

Even the little-less bit of stress gets to me

It creeps up on me when I’m not looking

Look at all this time that it took me

Earthquake, it shook me wide awake

Can’t close my eyes, can’t take a break

It always takes the best of me

Oh and where’s the rest of me?

Everyday, I day dream

It’s a part of me that gives me natural creativity

If I could control it, just roll it, up

And tuck it away

I wouldn’t be writing the poems I write today

Please get out of my face

I really do need my space

I gave you my trust

You blew it like a lit candle

Guess it was too hot to handle

Sit it on the mantle

Before you get burned, and turn, the table

And I start to Fable

Yes, I am able

I’d hook it up, but I don’t have the cable

Let’s make it a lawsuit, a case

Found guilty?

Let’s ditch this place

My thoughts are taking over

A star, a supernova

Up in the sky, looking down at me

Telling me who, and what to be

My thoughts, they run through my mind

Everyday, every single time

My mind is racing with beautiful rhymes

All of it’s priceless

It’s not the money

But simply the time that was spent

It’s my true passion, lights flashin

Heart racin’, I’m pacin

All the words like a dictionary

Only if I had a canary

To sing every word I spoke

Every word I wrote

All my thoughts being put on paper with ink

I’m drowning in the pool of words, of poetry

I can’t swim, but the words are helping me float

No needs for a boat

I’m truly inspired, with love and desire

I can’t put this fire out

It’s heaping higher and higher

Words flowin through my head

A boat on a lake of vocab

That I must have

I’d pay, but I purposely lost the tab

In the lake, when I was fishin

For a word that rhymes with flock

Well, I guess a flock is a mockery of a gentleman’s insecurities

I must not have dollars, cause that does not make sense

But the time that was spent

Is priceless, it will get you verbally rich

My thoughts are made of inspiration and creativity

What has gotten into me?

What could it be?

A mystery?

Call Sherlock Holmes, get him on the phone

My thoughts are ticking like a clock

A bomb, tick tock

There’s a knock, on the door

Next to the window, on the fifth floor

Did you have enough, or do you want more?

Like an apple, eat it to the core
